Several large bags are tied together and the clam bags are spread on a long table. Each bag is then filled with the proper amount of clams. Having clams that are similar in size assures that they will all get equal food and be of similar size when harvesting. This time consuming step is the last time they will be monitored in our facility before being planted on our leased fields. The corners of the bags are secured, and the bags are rolled up for transportation to our sites.

In this batch of bags, based on the calculated size of the seed clams, there were 850 clams per bag. These bags will spend a year to a year and a half on our fertile clam leases in the Gulf of Mexico right off of our farm at Cedar Key, Florida. The waters around our beautiful island are guarded by several different governmental agencies. They all help to guarantee that our waters are perfect for clam production. They will be harvested according to your specific orders. We harvest only when the clams are sold to guarantee freshness.
